Why the divisions share a suite
Uptown Medical Specialists brings cardiology, gastroenterology, hepatology, and rheumatology together in one clinic suite on Baltzan Blvd. A patient with overlapping problems is assessed by colleagues who can consult each other the same afternoon, rather than by four practices across the city.
Teaching in the suite
Internal medicine residents and medical students rotate through the clinic. Patients may be asked whether a learner can sit in on the consultation; declining changes nothing about the care provided.
General internal medicine
All eight physicians are internists, so complex multi-system referrals and pre-operative assessments are seen within the group rather than routed elsewhere.
Shared with Horizons
Horizons Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics operates at the same address and carries out cardiac and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Cardiology referrals are submitted through Horizons. Patients attending both clinics use one entrance, one parking lot, and one reception desk.
The fax line is shared. Referrals should be marked with the clinic name so they reach the right triage queue.
